Favorite Things: Tattoo-Inspired Artwork

Happy Sunday! I thought I would share a handful of my favorite tattoo-inspired art from around the web today. I'm a bit brain dead from going to sleep at 3am last night while Shirley was in town, so this will  be a nice non-thinking post before I return tomorrow with something a little more substantial.

Enjoy, and be sure to let me know which one is your favorite!

Crankbunny

I discovered Crankbunny and her beautiful creations last year as I was searching Etsy for cute Valentines. I stumbled upon her shop and fell in love. I ended up sending the Tattooed Lady Heart greeting cards to some of my favorite girls and even have one of the cards framed on my desk.  This shop is just too great - and be sure to check out all of the other non-tattoo items also. She makes some beautiful pop up cards too.

Liz Clements

Liz is a talented illustrator who creates some of the most beautiful tattooed women. She sells her works as prints, and also does commissioned pieces and commercial work. I love her style, and I can't wait to add one of her lovely prints to our collection. Check out her Etsy shop, but be sure to stop by her website to see more.

The Black Apple

I've loved the The Black Apple for sometime, but recently I've fallen a bit more in love with her tattooed folks, with the bearded man being my favorite. Emily Martin is so talented and all of her work is so beautifully whimsical that I can't help but adore all of the little characters she creates.

Evan B. Harris

Have you seen this guy's stuff before? I love it. There are various themes running through his pieces- love, death, nautical scenes and even some carnival inspired artwork. It's all so beautiful, and I'd love to have any of his prints or paintings in our home. Check out his site and Etsy shop, too.
Ray Caesar

All of Ray Caesar's paintings have this magical quality to them that really draws you in. This one is my most favorite, but be sure to check out his website for years and years of his archived creations.

Favorite Things: Instagram Fun (psst...it's on Android now too!)

Untitled

By noon today everyone I knew in the entire world had signed up for Instagram. Well, not everyone. But A LOT of friends and family. Lucky for them the wonderful, fantastic photo app Instagram made its way to Android users.  I've talked a lot about IG here, but I thought I would share a quick list of some of my favorite, extra things to do with the app.  I'm so excited to be able to connect with so many more people, so if you're on Instagram, come say hi- my user name is danihampton!

Here's my list of favorite IG add-ons:

1. Stickygram

This is probably my most favorite thing you can do with your Instagram photos...put them on magnets! Stickygrams are great quality and make wonderful gifts for friends and family. I've sent sets of Henry to my parents, and thought it would be such a cute idea after a big event too. And right now Stickygram is having a buy one, get one half off sale with code: EASTEREMAIL. Good until the 9th.

for the StickyGram giveaway on my blog today

2. Blurb books

Blurb makes printing your IG photos into a book so, so easy. You simply log into Instagram via their website and choose which photos, layout, and words you'd like to include. This is a great option for a baby book or just a fun photo album. Blurb books are absolutely beautiful too.

3. Canvas Pop

This site prints your IG photos right onto a square-sized canvas that actually look great! We have a few in our home and I highly recommend them for a fun little pop of fun.

4. Postal Pix

This service allows you to print your Instagram pics right from your phone. I love that you can choose the size, especially since Instagram pics are square and be tricky to order at places like Costco. I just ordered a ton to make a fun collage in Henry's room and I'm hoping to get some more and make little albums of fun events I've documented via IG.

5. Postagram

I LOVE this app. It's simple and quick, and in a minute's time you can send a postcard to anyone, anywhere for just .99 cents! It does all the hard work for you...all you do is choose a photo and write a message. So neat.

Happy Instagramming!

Favorite Things: my favorite food blogs

With winter fast approaching, I find myself trying out new recipes more than ever. Maybe it's the cold weather, wanting to feel cozy and fill my house with yummy smells and delicious food, or maybe I'm just hungrier, but either way I always find myself visiting my favorite food blogs more than ever. So what that said, I thought I'd share them with all of you!

Here are my most favorite food blogs - five of them to be exact- and each of them are incredibly inspiring, full of tasty recipes and beautiful photos. Click on each photo to visit the corresponding blog, I promise that you won't be disappointed. Enjoy, and happy cooking!

3 Beauty Products I'm Loving!

I don't wear a lot of makeup (at all), but when I get dolled up to go out on a date with Hank, or out on the town with my girlfriends, I absolutely love getting fancy. My everyday look is simple though- foundation, mascara and blush/highlighter. So that's why I love the products below- they can be used for day or night, and really make a whole world of difference.

1. Trish McEvoy's Eyelash Curler

This is hands down the best eyelash curler I have ever used!  I've been Shu Uemura curler fanatic for years, but recently while shopping at Nordstrom the sales girl persuaded me to try the Trish McEvoy curler, extolling its virtues for a good five minutes. I was hesitant, but I decided to just try it anyway and I am so, so happy I did. I have naturally long lashes so in order for my eyes to look as wide as they can be, I need a little curl. This curler is amazing. It curls 10x better than any others I've tried and I highly recommend it.

2. MAC's Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle

I've turned on so many of my friends to this stuff because it's truly amazing. I use it on my cheekbones (above my blush), on the bridge of my nose, and anywhere else I'd like a little extra prettiness. It adds a fresh, dewy look without being overly sparkly and gives you a healthy glow. If you've never used a highlighter you don't know what you're missing! I suggest heading to your nearest MAC counter and asking one of the makeup artists to try some out on you.

3. Nyx's Felt Tip Eyeliner

Hello, $5 eyeliner! What could be better? I had always used MAC's Fluidline in Blacktrack, but I received this eyeliner for free with purchase at CVS or Target some time ago and haven't looked back. It looks and feels kind of like a sharpie, and like a sharpie it stays put!  It's extremely easy to apply, and the felt tip makes achieving a cute cat eye a cinch! I'm a huge fan, and you really can't beat the price. Definitely worth a try!

Let me know if you decide to get any of my picks, and be sure to tell me what you think. Enjoy, and happy makeup-ing!
